Type		Water Repellant Admix Packets For Above Grade Exterior Stucco

Application Method		Added to stucco during mixing.

Product Overview		Merlex Water Block Handy-Paks are specially formulated 1 lb. (.45 kg) admix packets designed to be added to Merlex Exterior Stucco to achieve a water-repellent finish for above grade application.

Benefits		Provides long term protection from surface related moisture damage. Eliminates the need for liquid water repellents or sealers. Minimizes staining caused by moisture saturation. Gives stucco added resistance to damage caused by freeze-thaw cycles. Mixes easily with Merlex stucco. Less waste, economical. Allows substrate to breathe.

Substrates		Merlex Stucco with Water Block Handy-Paks will create an excellent bond to any properly prepared portland cement based surface.

Colors		Water Block may be used with all Merlex pre-mixed and Add-A-Pak colors.

Coverage		Coverage will vary depending on which type of stucco base is used and how it is applied. Follow the instructions on the appropriate Merlex Color Coat or Santa Barbara Finish Stucco product specification sheets.

Surface Preparation		New portland cement substrates should be properly cured prior to application of Merlex Exterior Stucco. All receiving surfaces must be structurally sound, clean, free of dust, dirt, silicones, paint products, efflorescence or any other contaminant which could impair the natural bond. For hand applications the substrate should be dampened with clean potable water to control suction. Major cracks, holes, or voids should be repaired prior to application.

Mixing		Merlex Exterior Stucco modified with Water Block Handy-Paks must be mechanically mixed in a plaster mixer to achieve proper disbursement. Normally, 8 to 10 quarts (7.5 to 8.5 ltr) of clean water per 90 lb. (40.8 kg) bag of stucco is required. Add approximately half of the required mix water (varies depending on how many sacks will be mixed) to the mixer. With the blades running, slowly add a bag of Merlex Exterior Stucco. Allow a few minutes for initial mixing. Add all of the Water Block Handy-Paks to the mixer that will be needed for the batch, one Handy-Pak per each bag of stucco. Add the remaining mix water and bags of stucco, and complete mixing to produce a smooth workable consistency. For best results, stop mixing after 10 minutes, allow mix to sit for several minutes, and finish mixing (re-temper). Do not short mix. Properly mixed stucco will require at least 20 minutes of mechanical mixing.

Application		Application technique will vary depending on which type of stucco base is used. Follow the instructions on the appropriate Merlex Color Coat or Santa Barbara Finish Stucco product specification sheets.

Clean Up		Water and detergent. Clean spills and spatters before stucco dries.

Limitations		*Important:* Merlex Stucco modified with Water Block Handy-Paks is intended for above grade application only. For maximum performances and protection, the mixing instructions must be strictly adhered to. The water resistant qualities of Merlex Stucco modified with Water Block Handy-Paks requires that a bonding agent such as Merlex Acrylex be added to the Fogcoat during mixing at a ratio of 1:3 (one part Acrylex to three parts water). Because it is impossible to determine the mixing ratio which was used after the fact, the burden of proper mixing and application techniques rests with the applicator. In the case of inquires related to failure to perform, unaltered Handy-Pak material must be available for testing.

Warranty		Merlex Exterior Stucco with Water Block Handy-Paks is warranted to perform in accordance with the product specification when used according to application instructions on the label. This warranty is limited and shall not exceed the total amount paid by the buyer for the product. In no event will Merlex Stucco, Inc. be liable for loss of profits, special or consequential damages in respect to any claim.
